The Monument to the Fallen Slovenian Soldiers in Slovakia

On the 3rd of December 2024 a monument to the fallen Slovenian soldiers who fought on the Eastern Front under Austria-Hungary was ceremonially unveiled in Becherov, Slovakia. On this occasion, wreaths were laid by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Sajovic, and the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovakia, Róbert Kaliňák. The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovakia, the Walk of Peace in the Soča Valley Foundation and the Slovak Klub Vojenskej Histórie Beskydy association for military history, participated in the implementation of this project.
The monument in Becherov is one of four monuments on the former Eastern Front dedicated to Slovenian soldiers who fell during World War I. In 2018 and 2019, monuments were unveiled in Gorlice (Poland), Lviv (Ukraine) and Moscow (Russia).
