The monument to the Carnic Porters in Timau pays tribute to the women who supplied the soldiers with food and military equipment on the Alpine Front. It shows a scene when Maria Plozner Mentil was shot to death by an Austrian sniper on 15 February 1916. Two porters are holding Maria, a third one is pointing to the sniper’s direction. The monument was erected in 1992 on the initiative of the Municipality of Paluzza and created by the sculptor Antonio Tinaglia.
