With its position in the north-eastern part of Italy, Mt. Lussari/Višarje/Luschariberg is not popular only with pilgrims and skiers but also as a place of friendship, cooperation and peaceful coexistence among three nations.
The sanctuary on Mt. Lussari allegedly had its origins in 1360. After a series of miraculous events with the statue of the Virgin and Child, the Patriarch of Aquileia ordered a chapel to be built. The original chapel can no longer be seen, the today building is a restored and extended version of the 16th century building.
You can reach Mt. Lussari with the cable car from Camporosso or on foot following Pilgrim’s Path (Sentiero del Pellegrino). In winter, it is a popular ski slope.
