From the pass of Poljance, a groomed footpath leads to Mt. Cvetje. Cvetje consists of two hills, Mt. Mrzli vrh (590 m) and Mt. Selski vrh (587 m). Together with two other hills, Mengore and Bučenica, it formed the Austro-Hungarian defence on the right bank of the Soča (Isonzo). Thus an important railway and road connection with the inland was blocked. This area is known as the Tolmin bridgehead. Especially in the initial offensives, the Italian troops besieged these hills heavily. Nowadays, several hiking trails lead past memorials, fortified positions, trenches and caves. It is possible to descend from Selski vrh to the village of Sela pri Volčah.
Access to Mts. Mrzli vrh and Selski vrh is possible from the Poljance pass (Most na Soči‒Ušnik road), which is also the starting point for Mengore and Bučenica. Leave your car at the pass. The path to Mts. Mrzli vrh and Selski vrh starts on the other side of the main road where you continue straight. It takes about 2 hours to reach Mt. Selski vrh.
