Trieste/Trst was the main seaport of the Habsburg Empire and important meeting place of different cultures and international trade. Naval officers, collectors, artists and wealthy families donated numerous Chinese and Japanese artefacts that had reached Trieste by sea to the History and Art Museum, which presents here the collection of oriental art from the 18th and 19th century.
