This small civil cemetery includes a charnel house with the remains of 281 Italian soldiers, recruits from Carinthia (Kärnten) and volunteers of World War I. The charnel house, which was built after the war, is now maintained by the Association Österreichisches Schwarzes Kreuz (ÖSK). The inside of the charnel house can only be seen on All Saints’Day (1 November), All Souls’ Day (2 November) and St. Barbara’s Day (4 December).
Register of the Fallen Soldiers
Either coming from Slovenia over Predel/Predil mountain pass or from the direction of Tarvisio/Trbiž/Tarvis towards Cave del Predil/Rabelj/Raibl, follow the road SS54. The charnel house is located in the civil cemetery outside the settlement Cave del Predil in the direction of the Predil/Raibl lake.
