Located on the left bank of the Soča (Isonzo), Mt. Senica did not enter the history of battles on the Isonzo Front; nevertheless, many remains of that time can still be seen there. Austro-Hungarian soldiers set up their positions of defence on this 658 metres high elevation should their defensive line on Mt. Mengore fall. Since this did not happen, these positions never played a more important role.
Access to Mt. Senica is possible from several directions:
From the direction of Modrej: Leave your car at the parking lot below the village Modrej and continue on foot. Keep to the right in the village, and then go straight towards Stopec, where the signposts direct you towards Senica (1 hour walk from the road to Mt. Senica).
From the direction of the railway station: Opposite the railway station on the Most na Soči‒Idrija main road stands a monument to Corps XV. A few metres before the monument (in the direction of Most na Soči), a path leads to Stopec. Continue past Stopec until the signposts on the right direct you towards Senica.
Access is also possible from the direction of the village Ljubinj.
