The monument has a pyramid shape and was built as a tribute to all the locals who had to suffer the horrors of the war in the name of freedom. Its presence by the main road reminds passers-by that peace and harmony are not something to be taken for granted and that we all share the responsibility of preserving them. Not only through words but also through actions. The monument is built using limestone plates. The stone came from the quarry in Aurisina/Nabrežina. An Austro-Hungarian cross and the years 1914–1918 are engraved in the top part of the pyramid with an inscription in three languages below:

The monument follows in the style of other monuments that the Austro-Hungarian Army built in 1917. Engraved on the monument are the names of the fallen from San Floriano del Collio/Števerjan who were left forgotten for way too long.
