From Kobarid head down Gregorčičeva ulica Street in the direction of Drežnica. After about a 10-minute walk you arrive at the Napoleon Bridge which connects both banks of Soča at its narrowest part and offers a beautiful view on its gorges. After you cross the bridge you turn left and continue past the turn for the campsite, after a few metres from the main road turn left onto a path that takes you to the Kozjak Waterfall. Follow the dirt road that starts to gradually descend and follows the Soča river. Before arriving at the footbridge, turn right and follow the path of the third Italian defence line from the time of World War I. From the hill where once stood the observation, post a beautiful view opens up on the emerald pools of Soča. The road starts to climb up a former military road and leads to the main road Kobarid–Drežnica. Continue your journey on the tarmac road until you reach the lovely alpine village of Drežnica under the majestic Mt. Krn. Among other things, here you have the chance to visit the pilgrimage Church of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the World War I museum collection Botognice. In the village square you turn right and continue on the road past the playground and school to the village of Koseč. There you turn left, past a holiday farm, and some houses until you come to a path that takes you up to your next destination – Italian military chapel on Mt. Planica. You will need approximately 2 hours to reach the chapel from Koseč. The recently restored chapel was commissioned by captain Celestino Bes in the memory of the fallen Italian soldiers in World War I.
From the chapel continue on the path and after approximately 200 metres turn into the forest.
The crossing of the ravine is in some parts quite dangerous due to occasional rock falls, so pay extra attention. When you come to a dirt road, follow the signposts that bring you to the Mountain Hut Kuhinja. Here concludes the third stage of The Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic trail.
